Compassionate Support for Life's Challenges and Transitions
About Dr. Elizabeth Studwell
Dr. Elizabeth Studwell is a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in family planning, adoption, IVF, couples counseling, attachment-focused family therapy, and adult health and well-being
My passion is helping people reach their own goals as they navigate life’s many transitions and to foster new ways of approaching, understanding, and responding even in the hard times. We can grow a great deal in the midst of change and challenge. And therapy is not only for those who are experiencing profound difficulty. We all deserve support in life’s complex moments, whether that be starting high school, retiring, becoming a new parent, navigating a relationship, moving or changing jobs, having to or getting to do IVF, or heading off to college. My goal is to support meaningful change through slowing down and taking a deeper dive to increase self-knowledge, self-compassion, and care.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in working with individuals, families, children, and couples. I have experience working in psychiatric hospitals, behavioral day schools, mental health clinics, and helping direct a group private practice. With training in several modalities including psychodynamic psychotherapy, non-directive play therapy, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, CBT, DBT, attachment focused family therapy, somatic processing, Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), Core self reclamation therapy (CSRT) and dyadic developmental psychotherapy (DDP), I use an integrative model to meet my client where they are at and work towards their set goals. I also had an experience working at an orphanage in Colombia, counseling children and parents as they prepared for adoption, which deepened my expertise working in adoption and family attachment. I also have many years of experience helping parents and their teenage children connect and thrive, and supporting individuals as they traverse life's many large transitions and stages in life.
